Medicare help in Morgan Hill, from the agency Michele Campbell built starting in 2008.

This is the office of an independent agency, not a satellite of a bigger firm. Michele Campbell has run it since founding the agency in 2008.

Most Medicare agencies you find online are a phone number and a website, nothing you could actually visit. MC Insurance isn't that. The office at 18525 Sutter Blvd, Suite 290, Morgan Hill, CA 95037, is where Michele Campbell's independent agency operates in Morgan Hill today. If you'd rather sit across a desk from someone than explain your situation to a voice on a hold line, that option still exists here.

Independently run since 2008

Michele Campbell started this agency in 2008, and she's led it ever since. That kind of tenure isn't common in an industry where a lot of Medicare guidance online comes from call centers that route you to whoever picks up next, a different voice every time you call back. Eighteen years of comparing plans in the same market means the person reviewing your coverage in October is the same person reachable in March when you have a follow-up question, not a rotating name on a headset.

We're members of the Morgan Hill Chamber of Commerce, which is less a credential than a statement about where the business actually lives. An agency can buy a phone number in any area code. Belonging to the business community in the city on your letterhead is harder to fake, and it means the people who would hear about it first if we treated a client badly are our own neighbors.

The California birthday rule

If you already hold a Medicare Supplement plan, California gives you a 60-day window starting on your birthday to switch to a different Medigap plan with equal or lesser benefits, with no medical underwriting, though we can only place that switch with carriers we're appointed with. The full mechanic is on our California birthday rule page.

Free counseling, and a free plan review, are two different things

Santa Clara County's HICAP program is run by Sourcewise, a nonprofit offering free, unbiased Medicare counseling to any county resident, reachable at (408) 350-3200, option 1. A HICAP counselor can answer general questions and won't sell you anything, which is genuinely useful. What we do here is different and complementary: we compare specific plans against your actual doctors and prescriptions, then handle enrollment directly. Use both. Neither one costs you anything either way.

For Medicare Supplement shoppers specifically, that county-level plan filing doesn't apply the same way, since Supplement pairs with Original Medicare rather than a county-approved network. We do not offer every plan available in your area. Any information we provide is limited to those plans we do offer in your area. Please contact Medicare.gov or 1-800-MEDICARE to get information on all of your options. The carriers we're currently appointed with for the Morgan Hill office, a list that runs longer than most people expect, is on our carriers page.

Three moments worth marking on a calendar

  • Turning 65 soon: start about three months before your birthday month, during your Initial Enrollment Period
  • Already enrolled: review every fall during Annual Enrollment, October 15 through December 7
  • Already have Medigap: mark your own birthday, since that's when your 60-day switching window opens

Whichever window applies to you, bring your doctor list and prescriptions and we'll go through it together, in person if you'd like to stop by, or by phone if that's easier.

A Question Worth Answering Directly

Does your doctor take this plan?

The honest answer depends on which kind of coverage you're comparing, since Medicare Advantage and Medicare Supplement work differently here.

A Medicare Advantage plan builds its own network of doctors and hospitals, structured as either an HMO or a PPO. An HMO generally requires you to stay inside that network and get a referral to see a specialist. A PPO gives you room to go outside the network, usually at a higher cost. Either way, a doctor being listed in a plan's network this year isn't a permanent fact. Provider directories can and do change during the year as doctors join or leave a plan, sometimes with little notice, so a listing from January isn't guaranteed to still be accurate by fall.

Original Medicare paired with a Medicare Supplement (Medigap) policy works differently. There's no network to check. You can generally see any doctor or hospital nationwide who accepts Medicare, which is the large majority of providers, without a referral.

You can check any plan's current network yourself, for free, using Medicare's own Medicare Plan Finder at medicare.gov/plan-compare. Enter your specific doctors and current prescriptions, and it shows which plans in your area actually include them, using the same data plans are required to keep current. We work from that same information when we compare plans for you, and we'll walk through what it shows either way.
