Questions worth asking out loud.
Real questions from people turning 65 or already on Medicare. If yours isn't here, call us, we'd rather answer it directly than have you guess.
No. Our help is free to you. We're paid by the insurance companies when you enroll in a plan, and your premium is the same whether you use us or sign up on your own.
No. Sometimes the right answer is that your current plan already fits you well. We'll tell you that honestly instead of pushing a switch you don't need.
Advantage bundles your coverage through a private company, often with extras like dental and vision, but within a network of doctors. Supplement pairs with Original Medicare so you can see any doctor nationwide who accepts Medicare, usually for a higher monthly premium. The right one depends on your doctors and how you use care.
Most people start about three months before they turn 65, during the Initial Enrollment Period. Starting early gives you time to compare options without a deadline pressing on you.
The Initial Enrollment Period surrounds your 65th birthday. Annual Enrollment runs every fall, October 15 through December 7, when you can review or switch plans for the following year. There are also Special Enrollment Periods for certain life changes, like moving or losing other coverage. We'll tell you which one applies to your situation.
You may have to wait for the next enrollment period, and in some cases pay a lifetime penalty added to your premium. If you're not sure where you stand, call us before you guess, it's much easier to fix ahead of a deadline than after.
A list of your current medications with dosages, your doctors' names, and any Medicare card or plan letters you've received. If you don't have all of that yet, come anyway. We can work with what you have.
Bring it to us before you do anything else. Insurance companies send an Annual Notice of Change every fall explaining what's different about your plan for the coming year. Most of the time it doesn't require action, but occasionally a real change affects your coverage or cost, and we'll tell you which kind of letter you're holding.
No. What you share with us stays with us and is used only to help you with your coverage. We don't sell or rent your information to third parties.
No, we're independent. We compare plans from multiple companies and recommend what fits your doctors and budget, not what pays us the most.
It depends on the plan. Medicare Supplement plans let you see any doctor nationwide who accepts Medicare. Advantage plans use a network, so we always check your specific doctors against a plan before recommending it.
Call us or schedule a free review before your birthday month. We'll explain your Initial Enrollment Period, check whether you need to sign up for Part A and Part B, and walk through your options with enough time to decide calmly.
Not on its own. Original Medicare doesn't include prescription drug coverage. You'll need either a standalone Part D plan or a Medicare Advantage plan that includes drug coverage built in.
Usually yes, during Annual Enrollment each fall, and sometimes sooner if you qualify for a Special Enrollment Period. If a plan isn't working for you, call us. We'll figure out your options rather than have you wait it out.
