Medicare Explained

Medicare is health insurance for:

  • People 65 or older
  • Retirees
  • People on disability for 24+ months

Important things to know:

  1. There are penalties for late enrollment.
  2. You may be enrolled automatically if you get Social Security benefits, otherwise you need to sign up.
  3. Your enrollment window is 3 months before your 65th birthday until 3 months after (unless you have other good coverage).
  4. You can delay enrollment if you're still working for a company with 20+ employees.

Medicare has several parts and plans that can be confusing since everyone's needs are different.

*This is when most individuals are eligible. Exceptions & criteria do apply.

How to Sign Up

You can sign up for Part A & B online at https://www.ssa.gov/medicare/sign-up or in person at your local Social Security office. The SSA is behind on enrollments so please give yourself 8-12 weeks to sign up (your enrollment won't start until your 65th birthday month).

We believe Original Medicare is not enough coverage. Once you have your red, white, and blue Medicare card (your Medicare #), set an appointment with us so we can go over your coverage options.

Fill out the form here and someone will be in touch soon.
